One of Britain’s favourite songs

Situation

What’s your favourite song right now? Maybe Ed Sheeran’s newest single? Or do you rather enjoy some good tracks from Coldplay or Adele? Not very surprisingly, John Lennon’s beautiful song „Imagine“ about a better, more peaceful world, is one of Britain’s alltime favourite songs. The song, in which Lennon sings and plays the piano accompaniment, was released in 1971, nine years before the former Beatle was murdered in New York.

Extracts from John Lennon’s „Imagine“

Imagine there’s not heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today …

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace …

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one.
