Group discussion: Can the home be a school?

During the Covid pandemic schools were closed for quite a long time. These school closures have made millions of students deeply aquainted with learning outside the confines of a classroom.

SITUATION:

You are a group of students who prepare an article on distance learning for the school magazine.

PRESENTATION STAGE:

Introduce yourselves and tell the group if you think that the home can be a school.

DISCUSSION STAGE:

Discuss advantages and disadvantages of learning in the classroom and distance learning – include your personal experience. Come up with at least five concrete suggestions on how learning and teaching should be improved so that students and teachers can profit.

Possible questions:
What should be done at school in the classroom?
How should your timetable look like?
What materials should be available online?
Should there be online lessons for your class / open webinars for everybody / other ideas?
Which other tools/methods/approaches might be helpful?
